Formic pro – Varroa destructor – Varroose – 2 bags of 2 ribbons – ANDERMATT

Formic Pro is a veterinary medicine specially designed to treat the varroosis, a condition caused by the mite varroa at the honey bees. Thanks to its formulation based on ribbons offormic acid, this treatment is ideal for summer, helping to preserve the health of your infested producing colonies. Thus, you guarantee bees in good health and optimal honey production.

Product Features

It comes in the form of impregnated strips, containing 68,2 g of formic acid. These bands are semi-rigid, flexible and non-deformable, wrapped in a biodegradable blotting paper. The latter allows a sustained release of the product. Formic acid is particularly effective against phoretic varroa mites and also acts on varroa mites found in capped brood. Furthermore, it is active against mites present on adult bees, making it a complete treatment.

Benefits of Formic Pro

  1. Rapid effectiveness : Formic Pro works quickly, helping to rapidly reduce dust mite infestations.
  2. Versatile use : It is suitable for the medium to heavy infestations, ensuring maximum efficiency in different situations.
  3. Action on the brood : Formic acid penetrates the capped cells, effectively targeting hidden mites.

Instructions

For optimal use, follow these recommendations:

  • Place the strips of Formic Pro into the hive, making sure they are correctly positioned.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dosage to avoid stress to the bees.
  • Be sure to monitor the condition of the colonies after application to assess the effectiveness of the treatment.

F.A.Q.

How does Formic Pro work against varroosis?

It releases formic acid, which penetrates the capped cells. This kills Varroa mites, whether they are on adult bees or in the brood. Thus, it ensures a significant reduction in mite populations.

Is Formic Pro dangerous for my bees?

No, it is designed specifically for veterinary use. When used as directed, it does not pose a risk to the health of your bees. However, it is crucial to respect the recommended dosage.

3. Can I use Formic Pro during the winter?

It is designed for summer treatment, as formic acid works better at higher temperatures. Therefore, it is recommended to treat infested colonies during the warm season to maximize effectiveness.

excipients

  • Corn starch
  • Sucrose solution
  • pine sawdust
  • Laminated paper containing biodegradable polymers
  • Xanthan gum
  • Water Access
  • Remove the strips from the bag and gently separate them equipped with PPE
  • Do not remove the paper, it acts as a blotter and thus controls the evaporation of formic acid.
  • For processing, the two strips are laid directly on top of the frames.
  • Always fully open the flight hole. Mouse barriers and other constructions or fittings must be removed.
  • The treatment lasts 7 days, the interval between the 2 applications must be at least one month.
  • After treatment, the strips can be removed and composted.
  • Product shelf life: 2 years

Colony size

  • Colony < 10 : Do not use for the treatment of bee colonies of less than 10.000 bees. Small colonies of bees would not be able to ventilate enough for the concentration of formic acid to be bearable.
  • Expanding Colony (presence of bees on more than 8 frames): A super with frames is to be added in order to promote ventilation.

Temperature

Do not use at daytime temperatures outside the temperature range of 10 – 29,5°C on the day of application and on subsequent days.
