The vegetal oils have many benefits in feeding horses :
- They are an energy source : The addition of oil makes it possible to increase the energy density of a ration without increasing the food volume. In energy equivalent, 1L of vegetable oil = 3 kg ofbarley !
- They are involved in muscle metabolism : The use of lipids (oils) in the ration makes it possible to spare glycogen stocks (source of energy in the muscle) and therefore delay the onset of fatigue during exercise.
- They are sources of omega 3 and 6 : The omega 3 et 6 are “essential fatty acids” meaning that they cannot be synthesized by the body.
THELinseed oil ensures a regular supply of rich fatty acids en omega 3 et 6. This oil of excellent quality promotes weight gain in lean horses, helps regulate transit, and ensures a beneficial action on the fur and skin.
Linseed oil also suitable for horses during training for which it is appropriate to increase the energy density of the ration.
