There are a multitude of administration methods against fleas and ticks: shampoo, pipettes, tablets, sprays and of course a collar. The collars are a means of protection and effective treatment over a significant period of 6 to 8 months depending on the products and the parasites. The collar acts as a preventive as well as a parasite. It may happen that certain products are irritating in certain animals due to allergies or sensitivity, in this case, we invite you to consult your veterinarian.

When to put on a flea collar?

Given the duration of protection of a collar, use is recommended during the most prolific periods for parasites: from spring to autumn.

How do flea collars work?

Flea/parasitic collars release active agents throughout their coverage in powder or gas form. These agents will act either as insecticides or repellents.

SERESTO COLLAR SMALL DOGS

Destination species: Dogs.

Indications: Treatment and prevention of flea infestations (cats: Ctenocephalides felis ; dogs : Ctenocephalides felis et Ctenocephalides canis) for 7 to 8 months. The drug protects the immediate environment of the animal against the development of flea larvae (cats: for 10 weeks; dogs: for 8 months). It can be integrated into a therapeutic program for Allergic Dermatitis by Flea Bites (DAPP).

For 8 months, the product exerts an acaricidal (lethal) action on tick species (cats: Ixodes ricinus et Rhipicephalus turanicus ; dogs : Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus et Dermacentor reticulatus) and a repellent action (preventing parasites from feeding) on tick species (cats: Ixodes ricinus ; dogs : Ixodes ricinus et Rhipicephalus sanguineus). It is effective against larvae, nymphs and adult ticks. Ticks already present on the cat or dog before treatment may not be killed within 48 hours after application of the collar, and may remain attached and visible. Therefore, it is recommended to remove ticks already present on the animal at the time of application. Prevention of new tick infestations begins within two days of applying the collar.

The product provides indirect protection against the transmission of Babesia canis vogeli and Ehrlichia canis from vector Rhipicephalus sanguineus, thus leading to reduce the risk of canine babesiosis and canine ehrlichiosis for 7 months. Reduced risk of infection with Leishmania of infants transmitted by sandflies for up to 8 months. Treatment of biting lice infestations (Canis Trichodectes).

Contraindications: Do not treat kittens less than 10 weeks old and puppies less than 7 weeks old. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.

Special precautions for use: For the user

Keep the sachet containing the collar in its box until use. As with any veterinary medicine, do not allow young children to play with the collar or put it in their mouths. Pets wearing the collar should not be allowed to sleep in the same bed as their owners, especially children. People with hypersensitivity (allergy) to the ingredients of the collar should avoid direct contact with it. In very rare cases, the product may produce irritation to the skin, eyes or respiratory tract. If eye irritation occurs, wash eyes with cold water. If skin irritation occurs, wash skin with soap and cold water. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice and show this leaflet to the physician. Immediately remove any remains or offcuts from the collar. Wash your hands with cold water after putting on the collar. VGPR09 / 2020.
