Hunting tips for forest lovers: The practical guide

Comedian/Humorist Pierre Doris used to say: "Advice from a hunter: to hunt rabbit, stand behind a tree and imitate the cry of the carrot!". We tried for hours while hunting but nothing worked. What did we catch? A cold, a lost voice and blisters on our feet. Clearly, we are better at selling veterinary products than at organising hunts.
So let's talk about the field we master. This article reveals our selection to help you through this new hunting season.
Vitality: May the force be with Roxy

Who says "Hunting" or "walk in the forest" says top-level vitality. Indeed, it is important that your partner be well prepared to tackle this sporting season. The goal is not to dope them like a cyclist but to help them keep their tone and dynamism to run after Obelix's best friend, the wild boar. We prepare for performance, and help with recovery.
A vitamin cocktail
Our selection starts with Tonivit from the laboratory TVM, which is none other than a complementary feed, a true canine cocktail. Mix vitamins, trace elements and essential amino acids to give your four-legged friend a rejuvenating cure. This will help them during prolonged efforts in the undergrowth.
A well-earned rest
Last weekend you tried your hand at rhythmic gymnastics with your equine in the Olympic pool, in other words you did some aqua-pony and you still haven't recovered? Know that this happens to animals too. In this case we're not talking about muscle soreness but joint pain. Roxy worked hard, she didn't let you down when the twelve-point stag burst out in front of her, now it's time to return the favour. Vetoform Articulations from the laboratory Dazont can be used in cases of ageing but also for joint stiffness and pain caused by prolonged efforts during last weekend's hunt.
Need a little helping paw for the hunt?

You need to have a good eye and good feet to chase after Poupi the rabbit or Dédé the deer. One piece of advice: take care of their little pads. For this, two solutions:
With that, if he can't manage to walk on the animals' flower beds, then there's a problem.
Dog VS Wild: interpreted by Lucky Grill

Day breaks slowly over the horizon, Lucky observes every movement, sniffs every scent, listens to every murmur, he knows that when Louis his faithful biped gives him the go-ahead he'll be able to leap into these gleaming woods, in their autumn colours. His mission, to survive alone (or almost) against all these threats surrounding him. Not only the fox, the roe deer, the stag, the rabbit (armed with a rifle of course), the pheasant or even Roger his intrusive colleague. The dangers are numerous, and sometimes almost invisible. We're talking about all those parasites that wish nothing but harm to Lucky. Fortunately, a squad of solutions now exists as preventive and/or curative treatment. Here's our swiss-army-knife of solutions:

Sprays
A strong point, ease of application especially on packs of dogs. Can be used as preventive and curative treatment.
- Frontline Spray – Boehringer Ingelheim: In 100 ml version or 250ml
- Fiprokil Spray – Clément Thékan: Available in 100 ml version or even 500 ml for the more greedy.
- Vétosan Spray répulsif 2 en 1 – Clément Thékan: To be used as prevention on the animal and/or the environment, this solution is based on active ingredients of plant origin. Effective against fleas, ticks, sandflies and flies.

Spot-on
The best-known solution, well established, to be applied between the shoulder blades.
- Fiprotec – Pipettes – Beaphar: 3 or 4 pipettes, classic or combo to treat fleas, ticks and chewing lice.
- Ataxxa – Pipettes – KRKA: in 3 pipette version, depending on Lucky's size. Repellent effect against ticks, mosquitoes or sandflies, and Ataxxa exterminates fleas and ticks
- Advantix – Pipettes – Elanco: Available in 4 to 6 pipette version, to eliminate fleas, ticks and chewing lice and to prevent ticks, mosquitoes, sandflies and stable flies.
- Frontline – Pipettes – Boehringer Ingelheim: in Spot-on, Combo or even Tri-Act version to cover all needs. For a broader spectrum, the Tri-Act version acts against fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, sandflies and biting flies.
- Vétosan Pipettes répulsives – Clément Thékan: In 2 pipettes and repellent against fleas, ticks, sandflies and flies. The plant-based asset of this selection.

Collars
The fashion accessory for Lucky's hunting outings. Well, to be honest, between you and us, don't choose collars for their aesthetic appeal, you'll be disappointed.
- Collier Dimpylate Chien Biocanipro – Biocanina: "Autumn-Winter" Collection, this collar acts as a shield against infestations and as a mercenary to eliminate fleas and ticks.
- Canishield – Collier – Beaphar: Double action for prevention and treatment of tick, flea and sandfly infestations. Sold individually or in a pack of 2 collars for small or large dogs.
- Vétosan – Collier répulsif – Clément Thékan: Active ingredients of plant origin, this collar is an excellent repellent.
- Seresto – Collier – Elanco: For small or large dogs, sold individually or in a pack of 2, this is the best-known of the collar solutions.
If after all that you tell us that fleas or ticks have taken up residence on your Beagle's nose, we suggest you contact a witch doctor. It works on football players, why not on ticks.
Hail Pumbaa! Those who are going to hunt you salute you

You're well aware that the expression "as thick as thieves" is not at all suited to the relationship between packs and wild boars. It seems the latter have quite a temper, like your mother-in-law. They don't hesitate to charge to escape brambles or to protect their piglets. Unfortunately, Bianca, Bianco, Biancu, Biancou, Biancon and Bianci, your faithful noses skilled at hunting, find themselves in its path and turn into UFDs (Unidentified Flying Dogs). Now, you'll have to repair the damage.
A wise hunter is worth two. We're not suggesting you play surgeon for a day, a visit to the vet is essential in case of serious injuries. In other cases, and in order to help Lucky, here are some essential accessories:
Essential accessories
Remember to protect the wound once it has been cleaned and disinfected. For this, a suitable bandage or a compress can be useful.
Ah bah C'est du propre!

Well, someone has to tell you, it can be useful to give your dog a good hose-down when you get back from a strenuous walk in the forest. Careful, don't get the wrong idea, the use of this expression has no connection with a political outburst from a former Minister of the Interior who became President. It has to be said that Roxy's hygiene and smells leave something to be desired. We love her a lot, but even more when she's clean:
A little water, some elbow grease and a good dose of shampoo and she'll be able to get back up on the sofa. Without wanting to intrude on your private life, showers aren't just for dogs…
We hope these few tips will help you get through the coming weekends. Take care of yourself and your faithful companions, they give it back to you well.
