Fleas present on the dog are killed within the day following treatment. A single treatment prevents flea re-infestation for 4 weeks. The veterinary medicinal product may be used as part of a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD).
The product has an acaricidal efficacy against tick infestations, persisting for 4 weeks against Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus, and for three weeks against Dermacentor reticulatus, and a repellent efficacy, persisting for 3 weeks against Ixodes ricinus.
Ticks already present on the dog at the time of treatment may not be killed within the first two days after administration of the treatment and may remain attached and visible. It is therefore recommended to remove any ticks present at the time of application of the treatment, in order to prevent their attachment and blood feeding.
A single treatment provides a repellent (anti-feeding) activity against the sand fly Phlebotomus perniciosus for three weeks and against the mosquito Aedes aegypti from 7 days up to 14 days after treatment.
A key question, as many flea treatments exist. There are almost as many anti-flea products as there are forms: collar, spray, tablets, pipettes (spot-on) or even shampoo. The only thing Produits-veto can commit to is that a flea treatment is not universal, it depends on the level of infestation, the animal, its breed, its allergies (a collar can for example trigger redness). It is not an exact science, so you should consult your veterinarian for the first applications and consult them again for any adverse effect. At the top of a tree, perhaps? Joking aside, you can tell visually if your pet is contaminated if you find small black droppings on its head and neck. As with your child, a comb can also help with this task.
