Frontline Combo Chat - Flea control for cats and ferrets - 6 pipettes - BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM

Long-lasting flea protection for cats and ferrets

A complete action on the flea cycle

Frontline Combo Chat is a veterinary antiparasitic medicinal product in a spot-on solution. It targets several external parasites of cats and ferrets. In cats, it acts against fleas, ticks and chewing lice. In ferrets, it targets fleas and ticks. Its formula combines two complementary active substances.

Are you looking for a flea control product for cats that also acts on immature forms present in its environment? Frontline Combo Chat acts on adult parasites. In addition, it disrupts the flea reproduction cycle.

Frontline Combo - Chat - Elue marque de l'année

In cats, efficacy against new adult flea infestations persists for four weeks. The inhibition of eggs, larvae and pupae lasts six weeks. Acaricidal efficacy against ticks persists for up to two weeks. The veterinary medicinal product also eliminates the chewing lice Felicola subrostratus.

Frontline Combo Chat can be included in a management programme for Flea Allergy Dermatitis. This inclusion must remain adapted to each animal.

In ferrets, efficacy against new flea infestations persists for four weeks. Acaricidal efficacy against Ixodes ricinus also persists for up to four weeks.

The box contains six unit pipettes of 0.5 mL. However, this format does not automatically correspond to six months of protection. The frequency of renewal depends on the parasitic risk, lifestyle and local context. It should therefore be based on the advice of a professional.

Composition and mode of action of Frontline Combo Chat

Each 0.5 mL pipette contains 50 mg of fipronil. It also provides 60 mg of (S)-methoprene.

The formula also contains butylhydroxyanisole and butylhydroxytoluene. It also includes ethanol, polysorbate 80 and povidone. Finally, it contains diethylene glycol monoethyl ether.

Fipronil belongs to the phenylpyrazole family. It disrupts GABA-dependent chloride channels in susceptible parasites. This action disrupts their nervous system, leading to their death.

Fipronil kills fleas within 24 hours of exposure. It kills ticks and lice within 48 hours. Parasites die mainly through contact with the treated coat. Their elimination is therefore not primarily based on systemic exposure.

(S)-methoprene regulates insect growth. It mimics the action of juvenile hormone. Thus, it disrupts the development of immature forms. It acts on recently laid eggs. In addition, it blocks the development of larvae and pupae.

This second action helps prevent the contamination of the habitat by immature flea stages. However, it does not replace the treatment of a heavily infested home. In this situation, the environment also requires an appropriate action. Other animals in the household must also receive a product suited to their species.

Attached ticks may sometimes remain visible. Therefore, the risk of transmission of an infectious disease cannot be completely excluded.

This veterinary medicinal product is not suitable for kittens under eight weeks of age. It is also not suitable for kittens weighing less than 1 kg. In ferrets, it is not suitable before six months of age.

Frontline Combo Chat must never be used in rabbits. Finally, it is not suitable for sick or convalescent animals.

If in doubt, ask your veterinarian for advice.

Frontline Combo Chat 6 pipettes: the key points

Frontline Combo Chat combines fipronil and (S)-methoprene in a spot-on solution. It targets fleas, ticks and chewing lice in cats.

In addition, it limits the development of flea eggs, larvae and pupae. The six-pipette format provides several unit doses. The frequency of renewal should, however, remain adapted to the parasitic risk.

Frequently asked questions about Frontline Combo Chat

How long does Frontline Combo Chat act in cats?

In cats, Frontline Combo Chat acts against new flea infestations for four weeks. Its action on eggs, larvae and pupae lasts for six weeks. However, its acaricidal efficacy against ticks persists for up to two weeks, according to experimental data.

What is the difference between Frontline Spot On and Frontline Combo Chat?

Frontline Spot On Chat contains only fipronil. Frontline Combo Chat combines 50 mg of fipronil with 60 mg of (S)-methoprene. This second substance targets flea eggs, larvae and pupae. The Combo formula therefore acts on more stages of the parasitic cycle.

Does Frontline Combo Chat also treat the habitat?

Frontline Combo Chat helps prevent the contamination of the habitat by immature stages arising from adult fleas. Other animals in the household must also receive a suitable product.

From what age can Frontline Combo Chat be used?
