The joints undergo numerous impacts and forced movements that can lead to degenerative diseases such as arthritis. This is often caused by cartilage degradation well before pain occurs. The pain of arthritis is due to premature wear of the cartilage and it can affect all cartilage.
Arthritis problems stem from an issue at the level of the arthritic matrix. The body no longer produces, or does not produce quickly enough, the collagen and proteoglycans needed to maintain healthy cartilage. This collagen deficiency is often due to the effects of age or intense wear related to physical activity.
