How to make a clay poultice for horses?
First, thoroughly clean the area, then apply a first thin layer, followed by a thicker layer. Cover the clay with a newspaper, then a flannel, and finally add a resting bandage.
When should clay be applied to a horse?
Clay should be applied when your horse has suffered a trauma or after a competition to soothe the joints. Caution: Do not use clay without a veterinarian's advice.
Why use clay on horses?
Clay helps reduce the water present in the horse's body. After intense exercise, clay helps remove excess fluid from the tissues. The astringent properties of clay can also be useful when the limbs are swollen.
