Phytophale is involved in the stimulation of hepato-renal function during hyperazotemic syndromes.

Lespedeza capitata: This plant extract is azoturic and a mild diuretic and does not alter the ionic balance.

Artichoke: The leaf extract is diuretic and choleretic. 1,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid is responsible for an increase in bile flow and induces hepatoprotection against toxic substances (ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, α-amanitin...). Artichoke extracts bring about a change in lipid metabolism (antiatherogenic effect) with a reduction in triglycerides and of around 10 to 12 % in total cholesterol levels. Finally, all of these substances (flavonoids in particular) have antioxidant activity demonstrated on hepatocyte cultures.

Orthosiphon: The extract is azoturic and diuretic. The excretion of sodium chloride and also of K+ ions and urea is increased. Several double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies have confirmed its activity on diuresis. In biological trials, orthosiphols A and B proved to be powerful antiphlogistics and the methoxylated flavones have inhibitory properties on 5-lipoxygenase.
