Oxybee is a veterinary medicine intended to fight Varroa destructor, a major parasite responsible for varroosis in bees. This parasite weakens colonies by feeding on the haemolymph of adult bees and brood, while promoting the transmission of viruses. Without appropriate treatment, infestation leads to a progressive loss of vitality, then to the collapse of the colony.
The use of an oxalic acid for bees such as Oxybee is in line with current health recommendations, particularly during periods of low or absent brood.
Oxybee is formulated with oxalic acid dihydrate, combined with excipients designed to optimise its application and tolerance. Unlike artisanal preparations, Oxybee is a veterinary medicine with official authorisation, guaranteeing a controlled concentration and safe use for colonies when used in accordance with the recommendations.
This treatment acts mainly by contact on phoretic varroa mites present on adult bees, which makes it particularly suitable for winter periods.
Oxalic acid for bees is widely used in integrated varroa control strategies, in addition to other treatments applied at different times of the year. Oxybee allows active substances to be rotated, thus limiting the resistance phenomena observed with certain synthetic acaricides.
Its use is generally recommended outside honey flow periods, under compatible climatic conditions, in order to preserve the colony and the quality of hive products.
Oxybee is developed by VETO-PHARMA, a reference player in bee health. The laboratory supports beekeepers with validated veterinary solutions and strong technical expertise on treatment rotation and the sustainable management of Varroa destructor.
